Around the World with Witchery First Edition

June 2, 2017

The latest Witchery First edition limited collection just hit the shelves and it’s a goodie. Exploring the importance of edgy yet subtly feminine styling, Witchery looked to the streets of New York for inspiration by creating an assortment of ‘must have’ pieces that are elevated and street-smart.

A firm favourite of mine is the bottle green faux fur coat a.k.a the Cookie Monster coat. It’s the must have colour in every fashionista’s wardrobe this season.

Whereas Witchery looked towards the streets of New York for inspiration we looked towards the streets of London for ours.

London is my second home. I’ve been living on-and-off here for almost 10 years due to my modelling and freelance career. It’s an incredible city where anything is possible especially when it comes to creativity. There is something for anyone and everyone in London and the more you look the more you find. It’s a city that never stops giving.

With London Fashion Week being famed among the big four for new and emerging talent it’s no wonder London has made a name for itself as one of the worlds top fashion destinations – an upstart of designers are creating a niche for themselves in this contemporary landscape.

Streetwear is in London’s DNA – from the punks to the minimalist’s – London has a long history of street culture which can be found all over the city. Inspired by the cultural diversity and the breaking of gender barriers it makes wearing statement clothing almost ‘normal’. High fashion meets low on a daily basis and people watching while sipping my flat white has never been more exciting.

Below are my top 3 looks from this season’s First Edition collection shot in and around spaces & places in London that inspire me – empty early morning city streets, museums and instagramable coffee shops. Which look is your favourite?

Shop the collection in selected Woolworths stores and online now.

It’s all about statement when it comes to this outfit. Milk white ankle boots that have an ever so slight cowboy feel to them and an oversized, deep bottle green faux fur coat, the perfect wardrobe piece with Winter settling in. Paired with a black slim-fit jumpsuit adding an edge of confidence and sophistication.

STYLE TIP:
Don’t fear away from statement pieces this season. Wear them with confidence and a fashion editor stride. It’s the perfect antidote to Winter blues as seen at Miu Miu, Prada and Fendi this year.

There’s no denying that velvet ruled the runway this past season, everyone celebrated this luxury material from Gucci and Fendi to Dries Van Noten. Witchery’s First Edition collection embraced this trend with clean-cut silhouettes in tops and pants inspired by significant runway trends. Easily wearable with the possibility of dressing the pieces up or down for various occasions.

I teamed my velvet top with a pair of sleek slim fit trousers and velvet loafer slides for a cool and modern street style look. The Clekenwell Grind served as the perfect backdrop thanks to it’s highly instagramable interiors and pops of colour to an otherwise all black ensemble.

The V&A Museum was the perfect inspiration for this sophisticated outfit of lace and knitwear. The lace maxi skirt creates a chic and progressive look when paired with Witchery’s asymmetry mohair frill knit creating a sense of luxury and elevated styling.
STYLE TIP:
Embrace your figure and add a wide belt to your look for an extra clinch and accentuation to your waistline. Keep things modern and pair this sophisticated look with a pair of loafers and fun socks instead of heels for the perfect street style look.
