Last Days of Summer

August 30, 2016

Leaves begin to fall or flowers begin to bloom and with it comes the inevitable change of our wardrobe: trans-seasonal dressing. My absolute favourite kind of wardrobe, I guess it has something to do with the fact that trans-seasonal pieces are the building blocks for the season ahead. Stability meets transformation meets renovation.

One of the only fundamental shopping rules when it comes to trans-seasonal clothing is to buy items that evoke the season ahead rather than the season that has just passed. Think of it as a reboot for your wardrobe.

So how does one bridge the gap between seasons and get ahead of the upcoming trends?

Tips for trans-seasonal dressing:

Show off your ankles with midi skirts and culotte trousers.

Change up your colour scheme. Deep reds and navy’s for fall and neutrals for Spring.

Get some fresh wardrobe injections. There are some key SS16/AW17 trends you can start playing around with right away, why wait till next season to embrace them?

Choose classics with a twist. Think white shirts with extra long sleeves or patterned two piece suits.

Don’t be afraid to play with various textures and layering. Leather over soft knits or denim paired with lace.
