The qualities I most admire in women are confidence and kindness.

Two days ago one of my favourite designers of all time passed away, Mr de la Renta, at the age of 82 after a 8 year battle with cancer.

I remember telling my mother and my friends when I was growing up that one day when I’m famous and attending the Oscars (I wanted to be an actress when I was growing up and marry Johnny Depp) Oscar de la Renta would design a one of a kind princess gown for me. As the years passed, I dropped the idea of being famous and becoming an actress yet my dream of being able to wear an Oscar de la Renta gown on the red carpet still lives.

Oscar you will live on forever as one of the greatest fashion designers of all time, a true creative genius.

The New York Times wrote a great article on Oscar de la Renta, a detailed story of his colourful life, it’s worth a read… see here.
