Monochrome with a Touch of Flare

November 12, 2015

Today’s post is a little of a through back and all. I was approached by LOOK Magazine in the UK to style a fashion week look and had to hold onto the images until they had been published in the magazine.

I’m loving the Seventies comeback and my monochrome 70’s rocker outfit encapsulates my personality to a tee. It’s simple with a fashionable “flare”.

These flared, suede pants from SLY010 definitely steal the show so I decided to pair items that complemented the pants rather then overpowering them. The patent boots & thin scarf add a bohemian rock n roll attitude to the overall look.

You can never go wrong with a little black and white.

H&M Launches in South Africa

October 19, 2015

Last Thursday night H&M hosted a VIP shopping experience for fashionistas, celebrities and media. The drinks were flowing and food kept pouring but the shop stopper that evening was the clothing. Everyone was shopping up a storm while Pascal & Pearce, DJ Zinhle and DJ Ready kept energy levels on an all time high.

On Friday afternoon a handful of local bloggers were selected to meet Catarina Midby, Head of Fashion and Sustainability Communication for H&M, for a private and intimate walk through the store. Catarina shared the season’s key collections and introduced us to all the different departments key to H&M. It was a great opportunity to have the store to ourselves and really take in the collections on offer.

Finally on Saturday morning at 10am the doors to the new 4700 square meter H&M flagship store were opened to the public. Don’t worry Joburg, you turn is coming too, on the 7 November H&M will be opening a second store in Sandton City.

For the VIP launch party on Thursday night I wore the H&M leather bib overalls from their latest Studio Collection teamed with a glittery turtleneck also from H&M. (Both are currently available in store.) I loved the contrast of rock n roll leather with feminine glitz. Think early 2000 Charlie’s Angels meet 70’s Charlie’s Angels.

I opted for a nude make up look as to not steal attention away from the outfit and sleeked back hair to show off my statement earrings.

So who’s already been to the new H&M and what’s your thoughts on H&M finally opening in South Africa?

Berlin Wall

September 17, 2015

I’ve always wanted to visit The Berlin Wall ever since I first watched Pink Floyd’s The Wall film as a little girl. Rodger Waters, along with David Lynch, has to be my favourite creative of all time.

The East Side Gallery, where we shot this look post, is a 1,3km international memorial for freedom that was established in 1990. The East Side Gallery is still the only authentic monument of reunification in the last 20 years.

Apart from Pink Floyd’s The Wall design (who I can’t seem to find out who actually painted it) I love Christine Kühn’s Touch the Wall with all the blue handprints.

Have any of you visited the Berlin Wall and if so which design was your favourite?

Summer in the City

September 14, 2015

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about this year’s traveling, it’s practicality. Maybe because it’s my fifth year abroad or maybe it’s because I’m getting older, either way I think I finally understand the term practicality.

No more running around the city in tiny denim shorts and uncomfortable ankle boots. I’ve embraced cutout midi dresses and the oh-s0-comfortable sneaker trend. Gel the hair back, bucket bag to carry all my essentials and a trendy pair of sunnies. I’m good to go.

Why I waited so long to embrace this thing called “practicality” I have no idea!

Happy Monday everyone 🙂
