When it comes to beauty I’m useless, give my an eye liner and a make up brush and I’ll end up crying on my bathroom floor because I can’t get the look right and my uber is due to pick me up in 5min. Skincare on the other hand, well that’s my ball game.
It’s no secret that I used to suffer from severe acne a few years ago and ever since then I’ve been obsessed with skincare routines and keeping my body clean inside and out.
One of my top tips is to constantly change my face wash. As soon as my skin becomes too dependant on a certain product it stops working on my skin. Hence the fact I have more then three face washes at a time.
Through a lot, and I mean a lot, of trail and error I’ve found a couple of face washes that I simply adore. Here’s my current favs…
La Prairie Foam Cleanser
I generally have dry, sensitive skin but once every two weeks or so I have an oily skin day and La Prairie Foam Cleanser is an absolute life saver. It’s not a face wash I can use every day or my skin will dry out but it’s a great choice when I’ve been running around a dirty city like London or have heavy make-up to remove from a shoot.
Aesop Fabulous Face Cleanser
Who doesn’t love an Aesop product? I mean the smell alone is enough to hook you. This face wash is ideal for sensitive, dry or combination skin types such as myself. It cleanses the skin without stripping it of it’s natural oils.
Dr.Hauschka Soothing Cleansing Milk
My good morning face wash. It gently wakes me up in the morning with it’s almond oil smell. This cleansing milk can also be used as a pre face wash make-up remover but to be honest I feel like I need a stronger cleanse at night so I stick to using this baby morning only.
Eau Thermale Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser
A special shout out to the PR agency that sent me Eau Thermale Avène gentle milk cleanser to try out. I’m so hooked! If you suffer from dry, sensitive skin this is the product for you, it’s pretty cheap too and last’s 3-4 months. It’s a no rinse wash but I prefer to use it with water and follow up with the gentle toner which is alcohol free . It has added vitamin E which provides moisture and antioxidant protection.
Human + Kind Wash Off Facial Cleanser 3-in-1
Human Kind was another face wash sent to me from a PR agency that I fell in love with. I find that a lot of organic, plant based face washes don’t cleanse my skin fully but this product is the complete opposite. The first time I used it I got the fright of my life because my face turned red, I only then read the product info and saw that is was actually an enzyme exfoliate. Which means it dissolves the dead skin cells without any scrubbing, making it suitable for anyone with sensitive skin. It says you can use it every day but it’s a little too strong for me so I use it 3 times a week at night. If you close your eyes while using this product you’d think you in a spa with the tingling feeling on your skin and the most magical scent.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I saved my favourite face wash for last. I discovered Liz Earle back in 2012 when I took part of LFW. It’s been my absolute favourite since then but unfortunately it’s not available in many countries. This multi-award winning cleanser contains eucalyptus, cocoa butter and chamomile. It’s a two part cleanser, first cleansing then polishing, and works for every age and every skin type. Nothing has ever worked so effectively for such a long period of time on my skin as the cleanse and polish has. Highly, highly recommended! Price tag isn’t bad either.
What are your favourite washes? Do you always change up your facial routine like me? Love to hear your thoughts.

I can literally have this smoothie every day and never get bored of it, especially on a hot day, so Summer please hurry up and show your face.
It’s packed with all the essentials vitamins for glowing skin… so drink on up!
If you not afraid of spirulina, add 1 tbs to your smoothie mixture.
Blend it up, and serve it just like that or topped with some dried coconut and cocoa nibs.
So what exactly does this smoothie have in it that helps with glowing skin? Here’s the low down:
Apart from the obvious potassium benefits, bananas are great for lowering your blood pressure and act as a prebiotic, stimulating the growth of friendly bacteria in the bowel. They also produce digestive enzymes to assist in absorbing nutrients.
Protein is essential for weight loss as it balances the sugar levels and keeps you fuller for longer. It requires more energy to burn off therefore your body is actually burning calories when you consume protein.
Brazil nuts, spirulina and maca powder are full of vitamin-E which is a powerful antioxidant. It is required for maintaining the integrity of cell membrane of mucusa and skin by protecting it from harmful oxygen-free radicals. These ingredients also contain vitamin C and B, helping improve the digestive system and detoxing your system. Maca is know for balancing moods and clearing the skin.
Lastly flaxseeds are filled with omega fats which boost the immune system and are great for skin health.
So blend it up and get busy sipping. Please let me know if you try this recipe and whether you love it as much as me. Tweet me at @emmamenteath or snap a pic on instagram and tag me @emmajanementeath.
These gluten free, sugar free date balls are the bomb! I’ve recently cut out all forms of processed sugar and for those of you that know me you’ll know that I’m a complete sugar freak. If there’s cake around, I’ll eat it.
So I decided to make these simple, delicious date balls to help curb my sugar cravings. They make the perfect mid day snack to keep me going.
These date balls I made are pretty simple, only 4 ingredients, but one could get a lot more experimental with them. Say adding pistachios and orange zest or cinnamon and apple. Pretty much anything goes with these scrumptious little balls.
You gotta try them, it’ll literally take you 10min to whip up a batch. Who else loves this little guys as much as I do?
1.) Blend the seedless dates until smooth.
2.) Once blended add water, gluten free oats and chai seeds. Mix thoroughly.
3.) Roll mixture into balls and coat with coconut flakes.
4.) Enjoy straight away or refrigerate for later.
How easy was that!
