If white cotton shirts are my Summer staple, then knitwear is my Winter addiction. I can’t get enough, no matter how high my knitwear pile grows (yes, my clothing is categorised…) I just don’t stop buying more.
There’s just something so cosy about wearing a slightly oversized knit with a pair of denims or trousers and your favourite Winter scarf while you run out to go grab your mid day coffee.
This Winter I’ll be wrapping up in this warm wool-blend knit with a roll neck and extra long sleeves from Witchery. Keeping things on the more masculine side with baggy trousers and a pair of loafers. For a feminine approach, style your knit with skinny jeans and a pair of ankle boots.
Your alarm buzzes for the umpteenth time and you realise you only have 15min to get ready and on top of the rush you have no idea what to wear.
We’ve all been in above situation many times before and one of my go-to’s in such situation is the ever so loyal twinset. From the Wimbledon courts to a high street must, the twinset makes getting ready in the morning a whole lot easier.
I’ve kept my outfit casual with a pair of grey slip on’s but if you wondering how to pull this look off for work simply add a pair of heels and a loose bun.
There’s no reason not to get cosy this Winter.
Recently I’ve been staying in the most unbelievable house in Cape Town that I never want to leave. Every morning , as the sun rises, I am greeted with an unobstructed view of the full length of Table Mountain (One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World) and feel, excuse the hashtag, utterly #blessed.
Lately I’ve been feeling uninspired by work and life in general but I think this house may just have ignited my ambition, perseverance and creative juices. Fingers crossed it’s a permanent thing…
When it comes to ease, nothing beats a twinset. Your outfit is already paired together for you and all you got to do is add a pair of shoes and an accessory or two and you good to go because we all know that taking over the World requires our full attention.
My Life in Pink teamed up with Marks & Spencer to deliver one of the key trends this Autumn: Head-to-toe knitwear. For my readers in the Southern hemisphere going into Spring and still expericening some chilly morning and evenings, these trends can totally apply to you too, because who doesn’t love wooly textures and oversized layering.
Here are five ways to rock the old knitwear trend with a new and refreshing spin.
THE NEW SPORTY:
Add a sporty spin to your knitwear by playing around with chunky socks and tying an additional knit around your waist or shoulders. Adding that extra knit as an accessory instantly updates your outfit with a cool edge and when the sun sets and things get cooler, layer on up.
Last season we saw countless oversize, chunky knit designs stealing the limelight during fashion week. This season the latest knitwear essential is the jersey dress as seen at Céline, Chloe and Stella McCartney. Play it cool with a pair of simple sneakers or dress it up with a waist belt to accentuate your waistline and a pair of ankle boots. Don’t be afraid to play with layers either.
Do you ever wake up in the morning and struggle to decide what to wear? From the Wimbledon courts to a high street must, the twinset makes getting ready in the morning a whole lot easier. The addition of a skirt slit and bell sleeves adds a modern seventies touch to your everyday twinset. An outfit that is easy to take from day to night with the addition of a pair of heels and a red lip.
One way to face the coming Winter months head on is with the good old classics: knitted beanies and scarves, as seen at Gucci and Anna Sui. There’s no denying that the key to Winter dressing is to layer, layer and layer again. Team your jersey dress with a pair of tights and thigh high boots for extra warmth.
JUST OUT OF BED:
One way to mimic the latest laid back look, “just-out-of-bed”, is with a Seattle neo-grunge vibe. Think alternative sweatpants, long-line cardigans and cut off gloves. Play around with different textures and silhouettes when layering your knits. Think 90’s cool kids.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and an even better week ahead.
