Upon returning from London in November I decided to take Justin camping in the Cederberg Mountains where I had spent a fair amount of my childhood. We were both so inspired by the rock textures that we decided to collaborate on a story together.
Fast foward a few weeks and there we were hiking up the Cederberg mountain range with crew in tow. Honestly we could not have asked for a more hard working and dedicated team. Two days and 3 hikes later the weather was finally what we wanted, still air and bright sunlight.
Big thanks to Maison Mara for supplying all the clothing and a shoutout to everyone evolved for your dedication and for not complaining once while carrying equipment and styling up the moutanin three times.

Instead of using beads as Pichulik always has, this time Katherine Mary Pichulik shaped rope and cast them in brass and then gold plated them to create the eight pieces that speak of having a history but are at the same time has a modern feeling.
“In keeping with the idea that jewellery is passed down from generation to generation, the collection’s leitmotiv is the knot, a symbol of security and longevity. A knot becomes tighter over time until it cannot be undone any more.” Says Kelly Withey.

Yay, so Maison Mara finally has an online store, however I’m not too sure in my bank account finds this a good thing.
For those of you that are not familiar with Maison Mara it is a concept store in Cape Town owned and managed by one of my dearest friends, Kelly Withey. The store offers a selection of womenswear, accessories and cosmetics from ready-to-wear designer brands such as Balenciaga, Chloe and Proenza Schouler.
I go gaga over everything every time I visit Maison Mara, particularly over the home section. I want my coffee table scattered with Lola James Harper candles and Phaidon books!
If you live in Cape Town or you planning a holiday in Cape Town I highly recommend adding Maison Mara to your list. The shop building and interior is a must see in itself. Think floor to ceiling marbling, Moroccan carpets and thirst quenching champagne while you browse.
However for now here’s a list of my current must have’s from Maison Mara… clearly one can tell I’m dreaming of a summer vacation.
