So if you haven’t been totally consumed by New York Fashion Week via social media just yet and you don’t know about Alaxander Wang’s latest collaboration you need to.
Wang will be joining the likes of Stella McCartney, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, and Kanye West with a special collection with the three stripes brand: adidas.
The collection consists of unisex pieces that range between $80-$200 and consists of 84 pieces. The collection launched yesterday in NY at various pop up locations.
Not in New York? No stress! Next spring the complete adidas Originals by Alexander Wang collection will be sold at adidas Originals and Alexander Wang stores, online stores and select retailers.
I’ve got my eyes on all things velvet… sigh.
Collection shot by Juergen Teller for VOGUE.
For the past month my instagram feed has been bombarded by “Fashion Month” and from what I have seen I am beyond excited for Spring/Summer.
I decided to do my top 10 picks from each city, starting with New York of course. So here’s NYFW summed up in under 600 words.
A collection that was so utterly gorgeous and fresh, at 82 Oscar de la Renta continues to surprise me. With exposed midriffs and gingham prints Oscar de la Renta created a rather youthful collection yet still kept his signature refined elegance.
p.s He left stuffed toy elephants on everyone’s seats to raise awareness of poachers. How adorable!
To tell the truth I was pretty surprised when I saw the new Michael Kors collection, I honestly thought his new collection was going to be conservative and slightly boring but alas, he created a collection that was not only classic but made you excited for Spring.
His use of classic pieces, such as the button down shirts, mixed with fun, floaty printed materials had me falling in love with MK all over again.
Creatures of Comfort, a brand that knows how to create comfortable clothes that are not only stylish but kinda quirky. This season CoC produced one of their best collections I have seen using cute colours, cozy knits and perfect Summer robes.
Over the past five years Jason Wu has stayed strong and steady. His SS15 collection at NYFW was beautifully tailored and sophisticated. He kept his collection simple and clean with trousers and draped dresses, looks that can carry you from the day into the night.
It’s practically impossible for New York-based British boys Marcus Wainwright and David Neville to produce anything from perfect. Their latest collection was urban, fresh and with no fuss attached.
A simple colour that was almost all white, (have I told you have much I love an all white look!) followed by khaki and beige which got people talking emphasises just how great these boys are.
Looking for street cred? Look no further then Public School’s new SS15 collection. A collection that is modern and minimalist, the perfect uniform for a hip urbanite.
“It’s about finding order out of chaos,” said designer Dao-Yi Chow backstage after the show. “It’s a reflection of the way life is: You need to make sense of the chaos to find the truth that matters to you.”
Alexander Wang is truly one of the ‘coolest’ designers ever. His fierce tailoring never ceases to amaze me, high waited trousers, knitted scuba dresses and streamlined blazers all donning a youthful, athletic feel.
Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us when his H&M collaboration hits stores in November.
A collection centred on English rave culture. The collection isn’t very wearable compared to last season but it’s the oddness of the designs that attracted me. Lots of latex, polka dots and statement tees. You can’t help but smile when looking at this collection.
Jeremy Scott is my hero! This is one man that knows how to have fun with fashion and I love him for it! His collections always have a whimsical feel to them that I adore.
This season Scott designed pieces with in-your-face graphics that took us on an acid trip down memory lane. His statement tees had the audience in giggles: “Don’t Take Drugs” and when the model turned around to reveal the back “Give Them To Me”.
Bohemian layering, shoes with moons on them, big gypsy earrings, it’s no surprise that Zimmerman channeled their inspiration for this collection from David Palladini’s tarot cards.
This Australian duo surprise us every season with beautiful crafted collections. This season the collection consisted of soft, flowing, almost Disney princess like, materials teamed with oversized box pockets and stiff collars to keep the collection cool and ready to wear.
