The most daring trend on the Spring 2017 runways was not the rhinestone-encrusted nip slip at Saint Laurent but rather hosiery with open-toe shoes. Everyone from Altuzarra, Balenciaga and Celine donned the trend on the runway this season. It’s a look that’s bound to inspire mixed reactions.
We teamed up with Falke to show just how effortless hosiery can be with an added Parisan flair. For some, tights are a comfort blanket and an instant slim-fast for thighs or a quick fix to freshen up an outfit. Remember, there’s so many other options besides those 50 denier black tights.
My earliest memory of tights are of my mother getting ready for work in the morning, pulling up her tights with curlers in her hair. I used to be fascinated with how something so delicate and light could enhance a woman’s legs. For example, take the film The Graduate (1967) starring Anne Bancroft as Mrs Robinson, her stockings (well stay ups) are such a key element to her character, the design of the film and of course, in seducing Dustin Hoffman.
For now, you’ll find me lazing around my apartment in my Falke hosiery, reading a new novel or rearranging my flowers. Clothing optional…
p.s MLIP created their first video short. It’s at the end of the post. Please do give it a watch and let me know your thoughts. We spent a lot of time working on it so I hope you like it as much as I do 🙂 We plan to play around with more video in the future.
