I love products that make my skin look and feel amazing. My skin takes a beating when I have back to back shoots so it’s important for me to take the time out when I get home from a shoot to pamper my skin no matter how tired I may be.
I’ve recently started using more plant based products on my skin and this Dr.Hauschka limited-edition Revitalising Feel Good Ritual kit is the perfect way to pamper my skin with a thorough deep cleanse.
There are three Dr.Hauschka Intensive Care sets: The Revitalising Feel Good Ritual, Harmonising Feel Good Ritual and lastly the Regenerating Feel Good Ritual. Each set comes with:
All sets retail for R350 in selected outlets.
The ritual begins with a deep cleansing using the Clarifying Steam Bath which opens your pores and relaxes your skin. The witch hazel helps to stimulate the circulation in your skin.
Next mix your Clarifying Clay Mask with a few drops of water. The Clay Mask will deep cleanse and decongest your skin. The medicinal clay and witch hazel in the mask bind with the skin’s metabolic products to help clear your skin of any impurities for a clearer complexion.
TIP: Place a cool slice of cucumber over your eyes while waiting for your mask to dry and do some affirmations.
Lastly apply the Revitalising Mask which revives and refines. It suggested leaving it on your skin for 20min but I used it under my day cream as my skin was in need of some serious hydration after a week of back to back shoots.
Excuse the scary no make-up picture of me but I wanted to show you how amazing this product is. It evened out my complexion and left my skin feeling like a baby’s bottom.
So here’s some good news, I have one of these spectacular care sets to giveaway, all you got to do is follow the directions below:
3.) Leave a comment on this post which one the three Intensive Care Sets you would like to win:
– Revitalising: Leaves the complexion smooth and even.
– Harmonising: Restores the skin and evens the complexion.
– Regenerating: To smooth and firm skin that has lost its elasticity.
Competition closes in 2 weeks. Good Luck
A few of you have been asking me lately what foundation do I use to achieve such flawless skin, so today’s beauty post is dedicated to you ladies.
First and foremost make-up isn’t the first step to achieving flawless skin, that comes from within. Two weeks ago I wrote two posts about my beauty routine and skincare tips, (you can read those here and here.) I chatted about my skin battle I’ve had in the past and how I overcame it with a few simple lifestyle changes.
Before applying your make-up it’s important to prep your skin. I’ve been using NeoStrata facial cleanser and face cream lately and I’m loving it! Wash your face with cold water, excessively hot water will strip healthy natural oils from your skin too quickly. After that spend some time massaging/tapping your face cream into your skin, this helps improve circulation.
After I’ve applied my cream I apply a pea sized drop of MAC’s strobe cream. (Now this is the secret) Applying laminating cream to your skin under your foundation creates a healthy glow to the skin.
After that I apply my foundation, Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation. Honestly I have searched for a very long time for the perfect foundation and I finally discovered it on set one day. This foundation is the lightest foundation you’ll ever come across and it truly feels like silk on your skin. The best part is you don’t need to layer your skin in foundation. I use one tiny squirt and I cover my face and my neck. Remember to blend your foundation all the way down your jawline and neck, you don’t want to look like you wearing a mask.
One very sad thing though… this foundation isn’t available in South Africa 🙁 I usually ask friends of mine that are traveling to bring it back for me. It costs about £40 and lasts me months.
Next up I apply concealer to the needed areas. I use MAC studio finish concealer for any stubborn pimples and dark marks and MAC select cover-up for under my eyes. (Thanks Mom for my dark circles haha)
Once I’ve completed that I lightly dust my face using a powder brush with MAC’s prep and prime translucent powder. This just hides any additional shine in the wrong areas and helps set the make-up so that it will last all day.
I’m pale, like super pale, so my make-up routine would not be complete with a little blusher. I’ve been using Rimmel 001 Santa Rose for years now. Personally I prefer blushes that are more on the pinky side then the peachy side. Just depends on your skin tone.
Next, this may seem a little weird, I use Maybelinne Pearly Pearl lipstick as an additional highlighter on my cheekbones. I simply dab a bit on my finger tip and then tap my finger tip onto my cheekbones where I want definition.
Next I apply my amazing mascara, also a product I discovered on a shoot one day. Maybelinne Colossal Volume mascara… it’s the bomb!!! I make sure I apply my mascara to the very edges of my eyelashes, getting those little guys on the ends makes the biggest difference to the shape of your eyes. If you mess a little, no worry, nothing a q-tip can’t fix.
Lastly I apply LUSH Honey Trap lip balm to my lips. Hydrating my lips is important to me, especially with Winter on it’s way.
1.) NeoStrata facial cleanser and face cream from Skin Renewal.
2.) MAC strobe cream from MAC Cosmetics
3.) Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation from Selfridges
4.) MAC select cover-up NW20 and MAC studio finish concealer NW20 both from MAC Cosmetics
5.) MAC prep and prime translucent powder from MAC Cosmetics
6.) Rimmel blusher from Clicks
7.) Maybelinne Pearly Pearl lipstick from Clicks
8.) Maybelinne Colossal Volume mascara from Clicks
9.) LUSH Honey Trap lip balm R75 from LUSH
It’s important to look after your skin, I try not to wear make-up every day. I wear so much make up when I shoot my skin takes a toll. So on my off days I just wash my face, moisturise and apply a little mascara. (It is make up’s LBD after all ;)) I will then only wear my own make-up when I’m going out for a dinner or lunch or have an event to attend… and my skin loves me for it.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate, just leave a comment on the post.
Happy Friday and weekend,
Read part one here.
My daily skin routine is a bit extension but well worth it. It’s important to start looking after your skin from a young age, I thank my mother and my aunt for being so pedantic about skincare and products.
In the morning I wake up and wash my face with NeoStrata Restore facial cleanser, I then follow with a rose water and witch hazel toner and moisturise with Bioderma Sensibio Light Cream. Every morning, no matter the weather, I put sunblock on my face. I find the Vichy sun care products the best.
I exfoliate every morning, either with a dry brush or an exfoliating glove. Many people don’t realise how much dead skin we loose when we sleep, exfoliation will help moisturiser penetrate the skin better & helps to eliminate the build up of dead skin cells. Exfoliating every day will leave you with baby soft skin.
One of my favourite bathroom products is my Aesop Geranium Body Wash, it’s a small fortune for a body wash but I step out of the shower feeling like I’ve left a spa and that feeling is priceless to me.
After exfoliating I use Nivea Smooth Body Milk and a little tissue oil on my scars and yes stretch marks. Damn those evil white lines 😉
At night I wash my face with NeoStrata Restore facial cleanser again and instead of moisturising I use Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, which is truly a skin product sent from the Gods.
I use Aesop Geranium Body Balm in the evenings to moisturise my body as I like to go to bed smelling like a spa, makes me sleep better.
Twice a week I exfoliate my face with Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant. This product is unbelievable, it’s pricy but it goes far. It takes me two years to finish a tube of this stuff! After exfoliation I put a mask on, either the Bioderma Sensibio mask or a clay bentonite mask.
I am a sucker for LUSH products and my guilty pleasure is relaxing in the bath after a long shoot with either a LUSH fizz ball or a bubble bar. If my skin is feeling dry I add a cup of milk and 100ml olive oil to my bath.

Do you have a skincare routine? Or any skincare secrets? Would love to hear some tips from you guys. Comment below and let me know 🙂
I’m super pedantic when it comes to my skin, I guess it’s partly because I’m a model and partly because of the way I grew up, but a good skin routine is of upmost importance to me.
A couple of my readers have mailed me asking me to share my skincare routine and what products I use for my skin so I’ve decided to do just that in two parts. Today I’ll share my skincare tips and tomorrow I’ll share my skincare routine.
I’m often being told what great skin I have and get asked what are my secrets, the fact is I never used to have clear skin. I struggled for some time, at one stage my skin was so bad I dropped out of modelling, stopped seeing my friends and spent most of my time locked up at my parents house. I was so embarrassed and every time I caught a glimpse of myself in a window reflection or in the review mirror of the car I would burst out crying. My skin was bad! My whole face was covered in heavy ache and I kept squeezing the pimples hoping they would go away but I just kept making things worse. After seeing the dermatologist and changing my products my father put me of a strict raw diet and threw away my make-up products which were clogging my pores. About six months after that my skin was pretty much brand new and I discovered a part of myself I had never known, a confident me. Having troublesome skin is not easy and it’s because of that that I am so pedantic about my skin now days. We only have one face, may as well treat it right.
Firstly I’d like to start off by saying that what works for me may not necessary work for you, the best advice I can give to you all is to go see a recommended skincare professional, such as a dermatologist. I have dry skin so the products that I use would not suit you if you had oily or combination skin types.
Secondly I chop and change my products around after I have finished using one, I don’t like my skin to get dependent on one specific facial wash or cream.
Thirdly if you can afford to treat yourself to a facial/deep cleanse once every 6-8 weeks then do. My favourite place to go for a facial is the Quantum Spa at the Radisson here in Cape Town. If you can’t afford it, do your own one at home. Boil a kettle and pour the hot water into a big bowl, put your head over the bowl and cover yourself with a towel and allow the steam to work it’s magic for about 10min. Once you’ve done that rinse your face and exfoliate, then put a face mask on (I’ll recommend some face masks tomorrow) and finish off by moisturising.
And lastly if there are some things I can stress more then anything it would be the following:
I know these all sound like the typical things you’d hear from your mother, but trust me, simple changes like this make a huge difference on the skin. Try it for a month and you’ll see the changes.
Read part two tomorrow where I’ll be sharing my skin routine with you and what products I use.
